Independent reading provides students the opportunity to engage in reading a topic of self-interest while also building their reading proficiency. Moreover, through making independent reading a centerpoint in ELA classrooms we teach students how to read for pleasure and how to take comfort with reading. This module will let you learn about establishing independent reading routines in your classroom.
